ATLANTA - Georgia State basketball standout D’Marcus Simonds is the Georgia State Student-Athlete of the Week, powered by the U.S. Marines, after leading the Panthers to a 2-0 week while averaging 26.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game.
The sophomore from Gainesville, Ga., shot 46.8 percent from the floor, including 6-of-12 from 3-point range, and connected on 16-of-22 from the free throw line in the two Sun Belt Conference victories.
Simonds opened the week by scoring 19 points in the Panthers' 73-64 win over Little Rock. He went 11-of-15 from the free throw line with five rebounds, six assists, two blocked shots and two steals.
