Softball Rally Comes Up Short in Seventh

ATLANTA - Georgia State's softball team brought the game-winning run to the plate in the seventh inning Thursday night, but were unable to come back against Michigan State, losing 5-2.

The Panthers fell behind 3-0 in the top of the third after Michigan State hit a three-run homer. The Spartans added on another run in the fourth and used a solo homer in the top fo the sixth to go on top 5-0.

Georgia State's offense got going in the bottom of the sixth as Kirsten McMonigle led off with a triple to left-center. Ivie Drake picked up an RBI on a groundout to bring GSU's first run in.
