Simonds Named Sun Belt Player of the Week

ATLANTA – Georgia State junior D’Marcus Simonds led the Panthers in a pair of games during the opening week of the season to earn Sun Belt Player of the Week honors as announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon.

Simonds earned the award for the fourth time in his career while averaging 25.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 1.0 steal per game against East Tennessee State and Montana. He went 7-of-17 from 3-point range in the opening two games.

Simonds has already garnered Sun Belt Preseason Player of the Year and All-Sun Belt Preseason First Team honors this season after earning the league’s player of the year award last season.
