NEW ORLEANS-Georgia State sophomore D’Marcus Simonds led the Panthers to a pair of key home wins and earned Sun Belt Player-of-the-Week honors as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
Simonds earned his second award of the year and the third of his career with wins over Sun Belt preseason favorite UT Arlington and Texas State last week while averaging 24.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.0 steals in two games while shooting 21-of-40 from the floor.
The sophomore opened the week collecting his second-straight double-double and fourth of the season with 29 points and 10 rebounds in an 81-75 win against the Mavericks.
