Simonds Named GSU Student-Athlete of the Week

ATLANTA -Sophomore D'Marcus Simonds helped will GSU back to the NCAA Tournament and has been named Georgia State Student-Athlete of the Week, powered by the U.S. Marines.

Simonds averaged just under 17 points per game playing 93 minutes over the course of three days on his way to earning Sun Belt Tournament MVP honors.

Simonds filled up the stat sheet in Friday’s 73-51 quarterfinal win over Troy. The Georgia native recorded 17 points and tacked on eight rebounds, seven assists, and two steals leading the Panthers to the Sun Belt semifinals.

Simonds scored six points and was perfect from the free-throw line in State’s 73-67 win over instate rival Georgia Southern.
