ATLANTA -- Georgia State hosts Mercer at 7 p.m. Thursday on ESPN+ to start the 2021 regular season.
GSU is coming off a historical 2020 campaign that saw the Panthers in a third straight Sun Belt Championship Semifinal. The squad returns eight starters from the 10-3-2 team a year ago, including Sun Belt Freshman of the Year Maddie Johnston and All-Sun Belt honorees Jimena Cabrero, Kamree Holloway, Jolie Ryff, and Jaddah Foos.
The Panthers played two exhibitions last week in preparation for the season. Johnston scored a pair of goals in a 2-1 win over Stetson and GSU and Jacksonville State ended in a scoreless draw.
