Panthers Score Tying Run in Ninth Before Falling in 11 at Furman

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Georgia State tied the game in the top of the ninth inning, but Furman won 4-3 on a two-out, walk-off single in the 11th Wednesday at Latham Stadium.

Luke Leonard hit a two-run home run for the Panthers (12-30), and freshman Brendon Case turned in an outstanding relief effort to give Georgia State the chance to tie the game and force extra innings.

Case came on in the fourth inning with GSU trailing 3-0, and the right-hander from Birmingham, Ala., pitched 6.2 scoreless innings. He allowed six hits but walked just one and struck out four.
