Panthers Hit the Practice Field to Begin Preseason Drills

ATLANTA -- "It was good effort, good focus and a good way to start," Georgia State head coach Shawn Elliott said after the Panthers' first practice of the 2017 preseason.

Elliott's squad held a spirited workout in shorts and helmets Tuesday morning at the GSU Practice Complex as the Panthers begin their preparations for their Aug. 31 season opener. Georgia State hosts Tennessee State in the Thursday night (7 p.m.) contest that will be the inaugural game at Georgia State Stadium as well as Elliott's debut as the head coach of the Panthers.

Georgia State returns 17 starters, but Elliott and his staff have stressed competition, among the returnees and a talented recruiting class.
