SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Georgia State's cross country team placed third at the USC Upstate Invitational Saturday in Spartanburg, S.C.
Angela Alonso was GSU's top finisher with a 5K time of 18:19.6, good for fifth place overall. Lotte Meyberg finished 10th overall with a time of 18:33.6.
Angela ran a strong race," head coach Chris England said. "She was near the lead the whole way. A third place team finish is motivating. Our team takes pride in finishing ahead of our in-state rivals from Georgia Southern."
While no rivalry points were won Saturday, the meet provided England with a good benchmark of where the Panthers need to be when it comes time for the Sun Belt Championship in late October.
