Panthers Fall to Tennessee State in GSU Stadium Opener

ATLANTA – Georgia State fell to Tennessee State 17-10 in the inaugural game at Georgia State Stadium in Thursday night’s season opener and the debut for GSU head coach Shawn Elliott.

A crowd of 24,333 filled the former Turner Field, which has been converted into a new home for Georgia State football, but Tennessee State quarterback Treon Harris, the Florida transfer, finished 12-of-25 for 145 yards and ran for 96 more to lead the Tigers.

Georgia State senior quarterback finished 14-of-17 for 159 yards, despite missing the fourth quarter with an injury. Taz Bateman led the Panthers with 74 yards and a touchdown on six catches, while also adding 35 yards on the ground.
