MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Georgia State was even with Middle Tennessee through three quarters Thursday afternoon at the Murphy Center, but the Blue Raiders outscored the Panthers 22-7 in the final period to hand GSU a 69-54 defeat.
Middle Tennessee, who was picked first in the C-USA Preseason Coaches Poll, led 16-10 after one quarter and held a 35-24 lead at halftime. Georgia State came out of the break on fire from long range, sinking five 3-pointers in the third quarter.
The Panthers used a 9-0 run, capped by a Janessa Murphy 3-pointer to put GSU in front 42-41 with 3:33 left in the third quarter.
