ATLANTA - Redshirt sophomore Madison Newby had an impressive week on the court to be named Georgia State Student-Athlete of the Week, powered by the U.S. Marines.
Newby led the Panthers past rival Georgia Southern Saturday in Statesboro with a 21-point performance.
Newby was effective on both offense and defense, finishing with four assists, three steals and three rebounds. Newby played all 40 minutes for the Panthers and made eight free throws which helped GSU hold off the rallying Eagles in the closing moments of the game.
Women's basketball will hit the court Thursday at Troy in the team's final road weekend of the season.
