ATLANTA – Memphis has cancelled its Sept. 30 game at Georgia State as part of a schedule reshuffling orchestrated by the American Athletic Conference involving seven of its teams.
Despite the existing contract between Memphis and Georgia State, the AAC rescheduled the Memphis-UCF game for Sept. 30 after their Sept. 9 contest was postponed by Hurricane Irma.
Per the contract, Georgia State will receive $1.1 million in cancellation fees and expenses.
Georgia State Director of Athletics Charlie Cobb said he is exploring all options for a replacement game this season.
“We are disappointed for our fans and our football program with the cancellation of this game, but it is beyond our control,” Cobb said.
