* Madison Newby has been voted Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year.
* She is the first GSU basketball player to earn the honor in the Sun Belt, while being the first since R.J. Hunter was named men's Freshman of the Year in the CAA in 2012-13.
* She is only the second GSU women's basketball player to earn conference Freshman of the Year, following Leslie McElrath in 1997-98. Twelve were named to previous All-Freshmen teams, but the Sun Belt does not have an All-Freshman team.
Georgia State point guard Madison Newby has been voted the Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year in voting by league coaches and media.
