GSU Comes Up Short in Upset Bid

ATLANTA – Georgia State's women's basketball team managed to slow down the up-tempo Troy offense Saturday, but the Trojans fought off the Panthers to win 71-57 at the Sports Arena.

Entering Saturday, Troy ranked second in the Sun Belt at 4-1. The Trojans were averaging nearly 80 points a game.

The Panthers, who have been short-handed due to injuries for three games now, managed to hold Troy to under 70 points until the final seconds.

GSU shared the wealth on offense with all eight Panthers who played finishing with at least a field goal.

Freshman Joelle Johnson led GSU with 11 points off the bench on 5-of-9 shooting.
