ATLANTA- Junior Jad Elkhalil was named as a Top-20 Male Semifinalist for the Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Award, Diverse: Issues in Higher Education magazine announced Thursday.
Of the 40 semifinalists, Elkhalil was the only student-athlete to represent Georgia State as well as the Sun Belt. The Beirut, Lebanon native will be featured with the other semifinalists in the Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar special report, which will be released today.
The semifinalists were chosen from over 1,300 minority student-athletes nation-wide who were nominated by their post-secondary institution. Applicants must demonstrate outstanding athletic ability, as well as maintain at least a 3.
