ATLANTA – Sophomore catcher Ivie Drake and junior track and field thrower LaPorscha Wells had outstanding efforts in conference tournaments, earning the pair this week’s Georgia State Student-Athletes of the Week award, powered by the U.S. Marines.
GSU’s two-time all-conference catcher helped lead the Panthers to three Sun Belt tournament wins and third place overall. Ivie Drake was nearly unstoppable with a .706 on-base percentage (on base 12 of 17 times), with a .643 batting average (9 hits in 14 official at bats). Drake pounded two home runs and two doubles among those hits.
