Dave Kaplan, a staple in the Atlanta community and the first Georgia State Football Director of Operations under Bill Curry has passed away.
Kaplan came to Georgia State shortly after the launch of the football program and served in his role in 2009. Although it was a year before the Panthers would kick off in the Georgia Dome, Kaplan helped oversee a year of practice with a full team as it prepared for its first game in 2010.
"Dave was a wonderful human being and a great friend," Curry said. "He brought a wealth of knowledge and experience that was so helpful in those early days when we were getting the program off the ground.
