ATLANTA-Playing in his first game with the Panthers, junior Dan Ellington led Georgia State football to a 24-20 win over Kennesaw State on Thursday night and has been named the Georgia State Student-Athlete of the Week.
Ellington led a final-minute drive that was capped by his game-winning touchdown pass with 41 seconds left.
The transfer from Itawamba (Miss.) C.C. completed 20 of 28 passes for 187 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions. He was also the game's leading rusher with 77 yards on 18 carries.
Ellington drove the Panthers 73 yards on nine plays with no timeouts in the final two minutes, completing 5-of-8 passes for 55 yards on the winning march, capped by his 8-yard touchdown to Diondre Champaigne on a fade route to the right corner.
