ATLANTA - Senior defensive end Mackendy Cheridor of GSU football is this week's Georgia State Student-Athlete of the Week, powered by the U.S. Marines.
Cheridor had two sacks, a forced fumble and a pass breakup to lead a record-setting defensive effort in Georgia State’s 27-17 win over Western Kentucky as the Panthers earned the first bowl victory in school history. The win in the AutoNation Cure Bowl also gave the Panthers their school-record seventh victory and their first winning season as an FBS program.
Despite playing with his arm in a cast, Cheridor had two of the Panthers’ six sacks for 45 yards, negative yardage that helped Georgia State set a school record by holding Western Kentucky to minus-two yards rushing.
