JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Alden Applewhite scored 16 points, and Tyren Moore added 11, but Georgia Southern (3-4) couldn't overcome Youngstown State's second-half surge in a 67-61 loss Monday night at Edward Waters University.
The Eagles led early in the second half after a Moore three-pointer put them ahead 35-32, but the Penguins responded with a 10-2 run and never trailed again. Youngstown State controlled the glass with a 39-29 rebounding advantage and held the Eagles to 37 percent shooting.
Applewhite finished 5-of-10 from the field and added five rebounds. Moore hit three three-pointers and added three assists, while Nakavieon White scored 14 points off the bench on 4-of-11 shooting with two threes.
