STATESBORO - Georgia Southern's upcoming Sun Belt Conference women's basketball game at Appalachian State, scheduled for Saturday, January 8, has been canceled.
App State announced on Friday that, due to player availability and COVID-19 issues with its program, the Mountaineers are canceling Saturday's game. It is the fourth straight game the Mountaineers have had to cancel dating back to December 30.
The Sun Belt Conference announced an updated COVID-19 policy on December 29 for the league with a minimum threshold of seven (7) student-athletes plus one (1) coach required to play. Since App Sta does not meet that threshold, the new policy of games being canceled and not rescheduled has been invoked.
