MONROE, La. - UL Monroe used a five-run third inning to collect a 10-2 five-inning Sun Belt Conference softball victory over visiting Georgia Southern, claiming the league series on Sunday.
The Warhawks moved to 15-5 overall and 2-1 in the Sun Belt with the win, while Georgia Southern fell to 6-13 overall and 1-2 in the league. Georgia Southern returns to action on Wednesday, visiting in-state rival Mercer for a 4 p.m. non-conference doubleheader against the Bears.
Faith Shirley got the Eagles off to a good start by hitting a solo home run in the top of the first, her sixth round tripper of the year.
