Track team showed up and set records at South Carolina Gamecock Invitational

The Georgia Southern track team had a record setting weekend at the South Carolina Gamecock Invitational.

Freshman Merabu Nagwandala, from Uganda, set a new school record for the 1500 meter race with a time of 4:33.90 and finished the meet in third place overall. Senior Lithonia, GA native, Sholonda Snell, set the school’s second fastest time in the same race with a 4:33.99.

Both athletes overtook the previous time, 4:36.59, set by Sherrill McFarlane in 2014.

Freshman Izylyn Zaini hurdler recorded the second highest 100 meter time in school history with a 13.84 time. She finished in 12th place overall.
