With one Summers on the sidelines this coming fall in Statesboro, Georgia Southern fans could be seeing another Summers on the field.
Mike Summers spent the 2010 and 2011 seasons dazzling local fans as part of a dominant rushing attack for Statesboro High. In his two seasons with the Blue Devils, Summers amassed over 1,400 yards of offense and scored 13 touchdowns, earning all-region honors in his senior year.
That success led plenty of colleges to stay hot on Summers’ recruiting trail and – while Georgia Southern attempted to land the local product – Summers ultimately chose Georgia Tech.
