WILMINGTON, N.C. - Host UNCW tallied the match's only goal in the 37th minute as the Seahawks claimed a 1-0 women's college soccer victory over visiting Georgia Southern on Sunday afternoon in Wilmington, N.C.
The Seahawks improved to 3-2-1 on the season, while Georgia Southern fell to 2-3. The Eagles, in the midst of a six-match road trip, will next visit North Florida on Thursday, September 4 at 5:00 p.m. in Jacksonville, Fla.
The Eagles held a 10-4 edge in shots in the first half, but it was Megumi Umemoto who delivered the 37th minute tally as her shot, off of a throw in deep in Georgia Southern's half, curled inside the far left post on a shot from the right side of the box.
