Rusty Strawn Advances to U.S. Senior Amateur Championship Match

MARION, Mass. – Georgia Southern men's golf alum Rusty Strawn won two matches in the U.S. Senior Amateur Wednesday at The Kittansett Club to advance to Thursday's 18-hole championship match, where he will take on Doug Hanzel of Savannah at 8:30 a.m.

Strawn won six holes on the front nine on his way to topping Mikes McConnell 5 and 3 in the quarterfinals in the morning and won seven of 13 holes in the afternoon's semifinal round to win 6 and 5 over Bob Royak.

Strawn was one of 156 players to qualify for the event and shot 72-72 to finish eighth in stroke play and advance to match play.
