STATESBORO - Georgia Southern football players Curtis Rainey and Ellis Richardson have both been named to watch lists for national awards, as released Friday. Rainey is being watched for the Rimington Trophy, which goes to the nation's top collegiate center while Richardson is earning interest from the Mackey Award, which goes to the nation's top collegiate tight end.
Rainey played in all 12 games last year, starting nine at center and was an honorable mention All-Sun Belt selection. He was on the field for a total of 857 snaps and played a season-high 89 snaps against Arkansas State.
