MORGANTON, N.C. – Abby Newton shot 73-71-72 to earn medalist honors and lead Georgia Southern women's golf to a second-place finish in the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate Tuesday at Mimosa Hills Golf Club.
Newton finished with an even-par 216 for her first collegiate victory, and the Eagles finished five strokes behind Western Carolina on the team leaderboard. Karlee Vardas tied for 13th, while Regina Plascencia and Taylor Oberparleiter tied for 22nd.
Newton followed her first-round 73 by shooting a 2-under 34 on the back nine to post a 71 in the second round.
