NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt Conference named Georgia Southern's Mike Hughes its men's basketball Player of the Week today.
Hughes averaged 18.5 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals in a 2-0 week for the Eagles last week. The junior guard shot 57 percent from the field and 71 percent from 3-point range (10-for-14) for the week. He posted 17 points, six rebounds and two assists vs. ULM and 20 points, four boards, four steals and two assists against Louisiana.
Hughes hit the go-ahead 3-pointer against the Ragin' Cajuns and converted a conventional 3-point play after getting a steal to help seal the win.
