Against Winthrop on Saturday, the Eagles edged out a tough challenge by a final of 4-3. All four of the Eagles' points came from single's matches, with freshman Santiago Suarez only losing one game over his two sets. Junior JC Alcala continued his strong single's play with a convincing victory over his opponent: 6-2, 6-2.
In the first match of the Sunday doubleheader, Georgia Southern defeated The UNC-Charlotte 49ers, 5-2. Suarez and junior Artemie Amari took their single's matches in straight sets, while Alcala came back from down a set to win his. In double's play, the Eagles were able to earn the best-of-three point on the strength of two tandems.
