Men’s Golf Sits in Third After Day 1 of NCAA New Haven Regional

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior Mason Williams fired a 65, and classmate Wilson Andress shot a 66 to lead the Georgia Southern men's golf team in the first round of the NCAA Championship New Haven Regional Monday at Yale Golf Course.

The Eagles (-10) are in third place, three strokes behind No. 17 Wake Forest (-13) and North Florida, who are tied for first. Eighth-ranked Texas Tech (-9) is in fourth, and fifth-ranked North Carolina (-7) is tied for fifth with No. 20 Illinois. The top-5 teams and top individual not on those teams from each of the six regionals will advance to the finals, which will be played May 27-June 1 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.
