FLORENCE, S.C. - Georgia Southern junior Nadja Meier captured the Florence ITF 25k Pre-Qualifier singles draw on Sunday, earning a spot in the main draw in the upcoming ITF event in October.
Four Eagles participated in the event in both singles and doubles. Three of the four Eagles advanced past the Round of 16 and into the Quarterfinals, while Meier won all four of her matches to capture the pre-qualifier, downing Maria Kononova - the all-time leader in singles wins for the University of North Texas - in a third-set tiebreak.
"This was a really good weekend for the Eagles," Georgia Southern Head Women's Tennis Coach Sean McCaffrey said.
