AUSTIN, Tx. – On Thursday afternoon, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced its 2021 Academic All-America Baseball Teams. Georgia Southern's Mason McWhorter earned a spot on the first team and is one of 31 first-time selections to the All-America team.
A native of Cumming, Georgia, McWhorter graduated from Georgia Southern with an undergrad degree in sport management. After being granted another season by the NCAA during the COVID-19 pandemic, McWhorter continued his academics and pursued his Master's in sport management, posting a 3.67 GPA.
McWhorter started in all 57 games that the Eagles played in 2021, breaking the Georgia Southern doubles record with 67.
