STATESBORO - Georgia Southern head football coach Tyson Summers announced Wednesday the hiring of Juston Wood as the new wide receivers coach of the Eagles. Wood comes to Statesboro after eight successful seasons at Cal Poly.
"Juston Wood is a young and energetic coach who we're excited to bring to Georgia Southern," Summers said. "Coach Wood had great success this past season calling plays at Cal Poly and his experience - both the gun option offense and under center - makes him a great addition to our staff."
Wood, who played in the Arena Football League for three seasons, started as the wide receivers coach at Cal Poly in January 2009 - coaching under new GS offensive coordinator Bryan Cook - switched to coaching the quarterbacks in 2013 and he was promoted to offensive coordinator in July 2016.
