Fourth Quarter Run Sends App State Past Eagles, 96-88

STATESBORO - Appalachian State used a 12-0 fourth quarter run to collect a 96-88 Sun Belt Conference women's basketball victory over host Georgia Southern on Saturday afternoon at Hanner Fieldhouse.

The Mountaineers improved to 7-10 overall and 3-3 in the Sun Belt with the win, while Georgia Southern fell to 11-4 overall and 3-3 in the league, suffering back-to-back losses for the first time this season.

App State led by as many as 11 in the first half, but Georgia Southern battled back to take a two-point lead, 55-53, at halftime. The Mountaineers and the Eagles went back-and-forth for much of the second half, and a Terren Ward three-pointer tied the game at 80-all with 7:47 left in the contest.
