STATESBORO - The Georgia Southern baseball team won on a walk-off single by Christian Avant to down UCF 3-2 on Saturday afternoon, bringing the weekend series to an even 1-1. The rubber match will be played on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
The pitchers dominated the afternoon, with neither team getting anything going until the fifth inning, where UCF scored on a sacrifice fly to make it 1-0. The Knights extended their lead in the top of the sixth inning to 2-0, where a double by McCabe brought in a runner.
The Eagles would cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the sixth inning when Jason Swan hit a single up the middle to plate Christian Avant and cut the UCF lead to 2-1.
