The Eagles tell to 1-1 on the season, while Florida State improved to 2-0 in the first meeting between the two teams since 2005.
Georgia Southern opened the game's first three minutes on an 11-2 run, then rode 12 first quarter points from Shanti Simmons to take a 26-24 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter was a defensive one as Florida State outscored the Eagles by three to take a three-point lead into the break, 39-36.
