Eagles look sharp in season-opening win

Defense:

The defense looked forceful holding the Savannah State offense to only 140 yards of total offense and only eight first downs. The defenses spirited leader Ironhead Gallon led the team with six tackles. A key stat to take away from this performance is the third down conversion rate of SSU. The Tigers were only able to convert one out of nine third downs, while the Eagles converted eight of twelve.

"From a defensive standpoint, they played well. They played hard and they played physical. We'll look and see what their execution was once we get an opportunity to look at the tape but obviously, any time you have a shutout, you've got to feel good about that," Tyson Summers, head coach, said.
