GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Georgia Southern women's soccer got its first taste of action in the Fall 2023 season on Sunday, playing the University of Florida to a 1-1 draw in an exhibition contest held at Donald R. Dizney Stadium in Gainesville.
In the first 30-minute period, the Gators got on the board with a goal from Megan Hinnenkamp, coming just four minutes into the exhibition. Florida would maintain that 1-0 advantage at the end of the first period.
The second period saw the Eagles tie things up as junior Smith Cathey notched a goal in the 42nd minute to bring the match level.
