On Thursday Will Muschamp announced that he was leaving Georgia to become the new Defensive Coordinator for the Texas Longhorns. Muschamp has been at Georgia for five years now, but the last two years he has been an analyst off the field so it was likely just a matter of time until he left UGA.
But why did he leave Georgia? Why did he want to go to a program that is going to be regularly competing against Georgia going forward?
Muschamp released a statement on Thursday answering these questions, and his reasoning is as simple as this being a better opportunity for his career and something his family wants to do.
