Sideline monitor added to SEC replay process ahead of week 1

The SEC recently announced that it will implement a sideline monitor for on field instant replay. Plays have previously been reviewed in the stadium, but now sideline game officials will be able to collaborate with the stadium official in an effort to get calls correct as much as possible. The margin of error in officiating has been decreasing annually, as new technology allows the NCAA and conferences to change replay rules.

The new sideline monitors will be implemented tonight for Texas A&M’s home opener against Texas State. The monitors will be allowed to be used during any official instant replay stoppage of time.
