Georgia’s performance on the diamond this season won’t just earn it home field advantage for the regionals. It has also earned the Bulldogs a No. 8 overall national seed going into this weekend’s double-eliminations regional at Foley Field.
That means that should Georgia win its regional, it will host the best-of-three Super Regional against the winner of the Lubbock regional, where Texas Tech is the host.
In recent weeks, Georgia was tabbed as having a strong chance to host and have a national seed. In the end, a top-ten RPI helped Georgia’s case immensely. Overall, four of the eight national seeds came from the SEC - Florida, Arkansas and Ole Miss along with Georgia.
