MBB: Sahvir Wheeler and K.D. Johnson Earn SEC Honors

Georgia’s Sahvir Wheeler was voted consensus second-team All-SEC, and K.D. Johnson earned a spot on the coaches’ SEC’s All-Freshman team in postseason awards announced on Tuesday.

Wheeler was named second-team All-SEC in balloting of both league coaches and the Associated Press.

Wheeler leads the SEC in both assists (7.2 app) and double-doubles (seven) and also ranks No. 3 in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.64), No. 3 in playing time (34.8 mpg), No. 7 in steals (1.6 spg) and No. 16 in scoring (14.0 ppg). He is No. 2 nationally in total assists (180). The sophomore from Houston’s seven point-assist double-doubles equal the most by any SEC player in the 2000s.
