Mark Richt won’t coach Georgia bowl game after accepting Miami job

Mark Richt on Monday said he welcomed the opportunity to coach Georgia for one last game in a bowl.

Then he accepted Miami’s offer on Wedneday to be its head football coach.

A day later, Richt told the team Thursday afternoon that he won’t coach Georgia in a bowl game.

Wide receivers coach Bryan McClendon is in the interim coach through the bowl game. McClendon also is recruiting coordinator and holds the title of assistant head coach.

“I’ve asked Bryan to assume all administrative duties of the head coach,” athletic director Greg McGarity said in a statement.
