Just a few weeks ago Gunner Stockton made a costly mistake that could have cost Georgia in their game against Auburn. While leading the Tigers by three points, Stockton dove into the corner of the end zone to give UGA a 20-10 lead which ended up being the final score. But this touchdown was a mistake because it gave Auburn the ball back with a chance to make a late run and tie the game.
The argument for Stockton to not score in that moment is simple. Had he just picked up the first down and not scored Georgia could have ran the clock out and not given the ball back to Auburn.
