The New York Giants traded up to the 30th pick on Thursday night to select former Georgia cornerback Deandre Baker.
And it was a wise move. Baker is the best cornerback in this draft class and his stats and film prove it. Baker even said it himself following Georgia’s Pro Day last month.
The Jim Thorpe Award winner is as good a lockdown corner as anyone I’ve ever seen at the collegiate level. Though he may not be blazing fast, he simply does not allow his opponent to get the best of him and he has that football savvy that just cannot be taught.
