Georgia running back Elijah Holyfield has entered a pretrial diversion program after his May 1 arrest on two misdemeanor marijuana charges.
Holyfield entered the program Wednesday following a court appearance. He likely was eligible for the program because he is a first-time offender and had no prior trouble with the law.
If Holyfield successfully completes the program in 12 months, he will have charges dropped from his record.
As a part of the agreement, Holyfield must not be arrested or cited and can’t go into a bar, nightclub, liquor store or any business where the “primary purpose is the sale or distribution of alcoholic beverages.
