Georgia football adds Shawn Watson to it’s staff

When Mel Tucker left to go to Colorado, he took a very important piece with him. Jay Johnson had become a crucial part of the Georgia football coaching setup. Johnson spent a lot of time working on game plan development and was a very important guy behind the scenes. Having been an offensive coordinator for some time before coming to Athens, Johnson brought a lot of experience to the role.

It was therefore not surprising to see Johnson follow Tucker to Colorado. Having been in the back office for a few years, I’m sure that he was excited to go back to calling plays, a role that he had for years elsewhere.
