Everyone has a favorite Georgia - Georgia Tech memory. Tekkies might even have a few, too. The 1971 iteration of “Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate” always stands out to me because it was when I first became aware of The Georgia Bulldogs, even though we still lived in Texas.
On that Thanksgiving night so long ago, the Georgia - Georgia Tech game was the 2nd game of ABC’s double-header coverage, the first being the famous “Game of the Century” with Nebraska beating Oklahoma in Norman.
Now, back then my mom was actually a Tech fan because as a young recent high-school graduate she moved from Screven County to Atlanta to get away from small-town Georgia and see what else was “out there.
